format instead of an &#8220;Inkscape SVG&#8221; format).<\/p>\n<p>I figured I should document my process at pulling and prepping those files in Blender.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Import the SVG file.\u00a0 <strong>File-&gt;Import-&gt;Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg)<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMport-SVG.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-493\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-493\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMport-SVG.png\" alt=\"IMport SVG\" width=\"475\" height=\"681\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMport-SVG.png 475w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMport-SVG-209x300.png 209w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>It looks like nothing happened, but your SVG is there.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just really really really small.\u00a0 If you look to the right in your Objects listing, you can see a new &#8220;Curve&#8221; that was not there before.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/SVG-Tiny.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-497\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-497\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/SVG-Tiny-1024x547.png\" alt=\"SVG Tiny\" width=\"474\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/SVG-Tiny-1024x547.png 1024w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/SVG-Tiny-300x160.png 300w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/SVG-Tiny-768x410.png 768w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/SVG-Tiny.png 1902w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Resize the object so you can see it better.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Resize.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-496\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-496\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Resize-1024x628.png\" alt=\"Resize\" width=\"474\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Resize-1024x628.png 1024w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Resize-300x184.png 300w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Resize-768x471.png 768w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Resize.png 1667w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Sometimes resizing it takes it off the screen and the Object&#8217;s Origin is not very intuitive\u00a0 For that, I change the Object&#8217;s Origin to the Center of the Mass.\u00a0 I do that by going to <strong>Object-&gt;Transform-&gt;Center of Mass<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Object-Transform-Origin-to-3D-Cursor.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-494\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-494\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Object-Transform-Origin-to-3D-Cursor-1024x790.png\" alt=\"Object Transform Origin to 3D Cursor\" width=\"474\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Object-Transform-Origin-to-3D-Cursor-1024x790.png 1024w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Object-Transform-Origin-to-3D-Cursor-300x231.png 300w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Object-Transform-Origin-to-3D-Cursor-768x592.png 768w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Object-Transform-Origin-to-3D-Cursor.png 1216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Then I can change all the Transform coordinates to 0,0,0 to center my new SVG<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/PUt-ot-0-0-0-2.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-500\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-500\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/PUt-ot-0-0-0-2-300x264.png\" alt=\"PUt ot 0 0 0\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/PUt-ot-0-0-0-2-300x264.png 300w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/PUt-ot-0-0-0-2-768x675.png 768w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/PUt-ot-0-0-0-2.png 888w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>SVGs pull in as Curves.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll want to convert it to a Mesh before doing anything with it.\u00a0 You can do that by going to <strong>Object-&gt;Convert to-&gt;Mesh from Curve\/Meta\/Serf\/Text<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Convert-To-Mesh.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-490\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-490\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Convert-To-Mesh-674x1024.png\" alt=\"Convert To Mesh\" width=\"474\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Convert-To-Mesh-674x1024.png 674w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Convert-To-Mesh-198x300.png 198w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Convert-To-Mesh.png 675w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>OPTIONAL &#8211; Get Rid of Black Color<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nWhen I was new to Blender and Inkscape, I could not figure out why my Inkscape SVGs were all black&#8230; and I just did not know enough to find the right keywords to Google.\u00a0 Later when I learned about <strong>Materials<\/strong>, it will started to click.\u00a0 The SVGs import in with a Default Material.\u00a0 If you want to get rid of that, click on the <strong>Materials <\/strong>icon for your object, click on the black material and hit <strong>&#8211;<\/strong> to get rid of it.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Getting-Rid-of-Black.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-492\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-492\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Getting-Rid-of-Black-1024x674.png\" alt=\"Getting Rid of Black\" width=\"474\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Getting-Rid-of-Black-1024x674.png 1024w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Getting-Rid-of-Black-300x197.png 300w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Getting-Rid-of-Black-768x505.png 768w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Getting-Rid-of-Black.png 1485w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>With your newly converted Mesh selected, switch to <strong>Edit<\/strong> mode.<a href=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Switch-to-Edit-Mode.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-498\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-498\" src=\"http:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Switch-to-Edit-Mode-589x1024.png\" alt=\"Switch to Edit Mode\" width=\"474\" height=\"824\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Switch-to-Edit-Mode-589x1024.png 589w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Switch-to-Edit-Mode-173x300.png 173w, https:\/\/tgaw.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Switch-to-Edit-Mode.png 593w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>A<\/strong> to select all vertices.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Extrude-&gt;Region<\/strong> to give your 2D Object some Depth.\u00a0 If you can you the mouse to size or type in a measurement&#8211;
